By Barbara Constable

The hugely successful Reignite series is returning for its fifth event: Unexpected Collaborations on Wednesday 4th September.

Reignite is sparking innovation and growth in York’s creative sector, bringing industry leaders, businesses, and creative minds together under the city’s UNESCO City of Media Arts designation. Reignite extends beyond the Creative Sector, serving as a catalyst for raising the bar for aspiration sector wide.

Reignite V: Unexpected Collaborations begins at 6pm with presentations at the Yorkshire Museum. Afterward, attendees are invited to a late-night opening at York Art Gallery, with a live DJ, drinks, and a final chance to view the exceptional Monet exhibition.

Reignite is an ambition and vision for the city to leverage its UNESCO designation to attract inward investment, develop educational pathways, retain graduates, create more jobs, and quantify the economic impact of the sector on the wider economy of York. Reignite V will showcase local collaborations that have had global reach and led to new innovations across the city. The event will bring together 300 delegates to celebrate these successes, generate new ideas and provide a unique opportunity for cross-sector collaboration.

Cherie Federico, Director of Aesthetica, said: “The focus of Reignite V is to champion those organisations that are pioneering innovative collaborations. We want to ask questions about how, as a city, we can work together in more unique and diverse ways across sectors. We live in a city where amazing things are happening – it’s time to celebrate that and create more opportunities for creative partnerships to flourish.”

Attendees will hear from Pilot Theatre and their work with new technologies, City Cruises and their work with Netflix, the National Railway Museum on commissioning artworks for WonderLab and Castle Howard working with Tony Cragg. This will be followed by a live DJ and complimentary drinks at York Art Gallery in partnership with Dutch Barn Vodka.

Reignite V is from 6 - 9.30pm on Wednesday 4th September. Places for this event are going quickly. Register your place via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/952525428197?aff=oddtdtcreator
