Yesterday thousands of runners ran through the streets of York as part of the 10th annual Yorkshire Marathon.

The 26.2-mile course started at the University of York, went past the minster and then all the way out to Stamford Bridge before finishing back at the university. The race winner for the men was Joe Sagar who completed the race in 02:24.10, and for the women was Mellisah Gibson 02:40.41.

Alongside the marathon event, there was also a 10-mile course, as well as a wheelchair event. All these events combined are expected to have raised thousands of pounds for various charities.
