£7.7 million flood defence passes test.
A £7.7 million flood barrier has passed its test. The barrier will be protecting 135 homes in the Clementhorpe area in case the River Ouse bursts its banks.
The Environment Agency is the company responsible for building these barriers after seeing the flooding on the opposite side of the Ouse. After the 2015 floods they were given more money to help protect York and its most vulnerable streets.
