A new rescue boat launched on river Ouse and named after teenager who drowned in 2019

The sunshine appeal by parents Kate and Stephen Ferry, in the memory of their 19-year-old son, Sonny Ferry who was drowned in April 2019 has raised over £35,000.

The sunshine appeal by parents Kate and Stephen Ferry, in the memory of their 19-year-old son, Sonny Ferry who was drowned in April 2019 has raised over £35,000. With assistance from Acaster Marine in York and Highfield UK a top of the range boat ‘Spirit of Sonny’ was launched onto the river Ouse. The new boat replaces one that’s 15 years old, Kate and Stephen from Rutland were prised for their fantastic drive and determination by Dave Horn, Senior Operations manager of York Rescue Boat.
