As of yesterday, Minster Gates has been closed for Anti-terrorist Bollard work.

The street next to the York Minster is the latest area to be affected by the Hostile Vehicle Mitigation Scheme in order to combat the threat of vehicle as weapon attacks.

A council spokesperson has said that Minster Gates will be accessible to pedestrians via Minster Yard and High Petergate during the work. The City of York council has also said that the street will be expected to reopen on Friday the 13th of October.

Elsewhere in the city, anti-terrorist bollard work is also taking place in Shambles, Goodramgate and St Andrewgate with the council announcing last week that the work in Shambles will go on for longer due to the discovery of bones.
