The final work on anti-terror bollards in the city centre has begun, but local business claims council did not give enough warning of the impact of the works.

The final work on anti-terror bollards in the city centre has begun, with plans to be finished by the end of February. As with the case in other cities, the bollards are designed to protect the public from vehicle attacks. Although Blake Street will be closed off to traffic for up to eight weeks, businesses and properties remain open.

Whilst there was a temporary pause in works over the festive period, the council is urging businesses to raise concerns of disruption as early as possible. The owner of Clarkson's menswear, Andrew Hannan, has told The Press that he felt there was not enough information provided to businesses regarding the work that was taking place and how this might affect footfall.
