Ark Habitat Opens to Help Save Rare ‘Jewel of York’ Beetle

Rare and beautiful tansy beetles being introduced to new 'ark' habitat in the latest efforts to protect the endangered species. The tansy beetle is prioritised for conservation due to declining numbers and flood risk to current habitats.

Rare and beautiful tansy beetles being introduced to new 'ark' habitat in the latest efforts to protect the endangered species. The tansy beetle is prioritised for conservation due to declining numbers and flood risk to current habitats. 

Forty of the brilliantly coloured tansy beetles are set to move into their new safe haven home on York St John University’s Sports Park on the 26th May. The site has been specially developed with hundreds of tansy plants cultivated to sustain the rare beetles.
