City of York Council services will not be operating as usual on the Bank Holiday, as the authority joins the nation in commemorating the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

City of York Council services will not be operating as usual on the Bank Holiday, as the authority joins the nation in commemorating the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  

Schools in York will be closed on Monday 19th September.

This includes changes to waste and recycling collections, which will not be taking place on Monday 19 September, on the day of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Collections which are due on Monday 19 September will be collected on the following dates:

  • Black bin: Tuesday 20 September
  • Recycling: Monday 3 October
  • Garden waste: Monday 3 October

Collections which are due on Tuesday 20 September will be collected on the following dates:

  • Black bin: Tuesday 20 September (no change)
  • Recycling: Tuesday 20 September (no change)
  • Garden waste: Tuesday 4 October

In addition to this, Hazel Court and Towthorpe Household Waste Recycling Centres are closed on Monday 19 September.
