For many years, there have been plans to build housing at the back of The Lord Nelson, a pub that dates back to the 17th century, but protests by locals have always ensured that they haven’t gone through.
The planning applications were rejected by the City of York Council in 2020 and 2022, but the council has now been overruled by a government planning inspector.
