A man has been charged with a drink-driving offence while riding an e-scooter after drinking alcohol in York. North Yorkshire Police stopped the 27-year-old in the early hours of yesterday morning on Tadcaster Road. He was arrested following a failed breath test.

A spokesperson for the police has stated: ‘E-scooters which are part of York’s official hire scheme can be ridden legally in the city.’ ‘However, the law on drink-driving applies to e-scooters just as much as any other motor vehicle.’
