York’s giant Ferris wheel is set to return to St Sampson’s Square in time for the May bank holiday this weekend.
Officially open for business on Saturday 4th May, the wheel can carry 144 people at a time with 24 gondolas. Standard tickets purchased online will be £5.50 and £3.50 for those under 1 metre 40 centimetres.
There is also a ‘VIP pod’ available to book for special occasions which includes a 30-minute ride. The wheel, operated by the company Events by Cynosure, will be open until Saturday 1st June.
John Lowery, director of Hire A Funfair, the parent company of Events by Cynosure, said: "We are proud to present the giant wheel this May in our home city of York. It's a pleasure to work with the team at Make It York to make this happen and we hope that people enjoy the amazing views."
Tickets can also be purchased on the day for £7 or £5 for those under 1 metre 40 centimetres.
