Temperatures reached 40 degrees

Hottest day ever recorded in York.

York experienced its hottest day since records began yesterday; the temperature at Topcliffe weather station, used by the met office to record temperatures around the York area, recorded the temperature at  40 degrees.

This heat has caused over 90,000 clicks on the heat exhaustion and heatstroke page on the NHS website on Monday alone, power cuts throughout Monday night were caused due to conductors overheating and Yorkshire Water has confirmed that it has had its highest water usage in over 15 years.
