Hundreds of elderly people in York are living alone without central heating

A census has revealed that hundreds of elderly people in York are currently living alone and with no central heating.

In fact, the census data shows that 12,049 people over the age of 65 are living alone in the city, roughly 32% of this age group.

Of this group of people, 243 did not have central heating.

These figures are extremely concerning and Age UK have urged the Government to take more action and provide better support for next winter.
