York’s second ‘Kidical Mass’ cycle ride will bring a cheerful sight to the city centre this coming Sunday. Following the success of York’s first ever Kidical Mass last year - with over 80 riders taking to the streets - York Cycle Campaign intends to make this family-friendly mass cycle ride a regular feature of York Environment Week. This year’s event departs at 1pm on Sunday, with riders asked to gather by the statue of Constantine the Great, outside York Minster. The ride, which is around 5km long, will proceed out of the city and through the Groves low traffic neighbourhood before joining the orbital traffic-free cycle way and finishing at the St Nick’s Field Autumn Fair. The route has been checked and will be accessible to trikes and trailers, with marshalls on hand to assist if needed.

Robyn Jankel, chair of York Cycle Campaign, says “Kidical Mass is all about getting families on cycles and showing how important it is that we're all able to cycle easily and safely, at any age.”

Everyone (not just kids!) are welcome to join this free cycle ride and the campaign encourages participants to bring placards to tell the council what improvements they want to see to make cycling safe, convenient and accessible for all ages and abilities in the city.

The ride departs from York Minster at 1pm on Sunday and participants are asked to sign up via Eventbrite
