York Against Cancer’s first photography competition – YORKSHIRE FOCUS – is now live! Send your favourite photographs of Yorkshire here to be in with a chance to be featured in our 2023 Charity Calendar.

Our competition has been aptly named ‘YORKSHIRE FOCUS’ as we’re asking people to focus their attention (and cameras!) on recognisable Yorkshire landmarks to be included in our 2023 Charity Calendar.

Although we are York Against Cancer, we also support cancer patients and families in North and East Yorkshire. We’d love to feature images of local landmarks in North and East Yorkshire to raise awareness of our work outside of York.

Julie Russell – York Against Cancer CEO says, “We’re asking people to email original photographs of their favourite place(s) in Yorkshire for our 2023 charity calendar – to help us raise money to fund cancer care, research, and education programmes in the local area. We also hope our calendar will raise awareness of our work in the towns and villages outside of York.

This is an amateur photography competition, open to everyone – just take a landscape photo* (on a phone or camera) of a recognisable Yorkshire landmark when you’re out and about and email it to lauren.hudson@yorkagainstcancer.org.uk

Lauren Hudson, Head of Fundraising says, “We’re excited to launch this new fundraising initiative. Think Helmsley, Selby Abbey, Whitby Whalebone Arch, Scarborough Seafront, North York Moors…there’s so many picturesque places here in Yorkshire to photograph. Our 2023 calendar is going to be a bestseller, I’m sure!”

The winning 12 photographs will be chosen anonymously by a panel of impartial judges and published in our charity calendar alongside the photographer’s name and location.

The 2023 calendar will be available to buy from York Against Cancer shops – at York Stadium and York Hospital and online – all proceeds will be invested into local cancer care, supporting individuals and families affected by cancer. Read more about our work here.
