Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A woman was seriously injured in Selby after a knife attack in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A woman was seriously injured in Selby after a knife attack in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Police and ambulance services were called at 12.30am to reports that the woman had been attacked with a knife near to the Balti House in Flaxley Road. The woman was helped by two members of the public who were in the area before emergency services arrived.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is in a stable condition. A 25-year-old man is in police custody and has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

North Yorkshire police are now appealing to find these two people to assist with the investigation. "If you witnessed the incident or helped the woman before emergency services arrived or if you have any other information that would assist our investigation, please get in touch by emailing: CID York@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101, press option 2 and ask for York CID."
