Demolition on the Mecca Bingo building in Fishergate has started and will last for 15 weeks followed by an extensive archeological dig before contruction of student accommodation can start.
The new building will have 276 student bedrooms and will be called Rialto house, representing the original cinema before being demolished and the bingo hall replacing it.
