Hempland Primary School has been given the green light for a two-story building after successfully achieving a place on the government’s School Rebuilding Programme.

The City of York Council's planning committee has unanimously approved plans to construct a new Primary School building. Hempland Primary School has been given the green light for a two-story building after successfully achieving a place on the government’s School Rebuilding Programme.

This programme carries out major rebuilding and refurbishment projects in schools and colleges across England. The school’s current building has reached the end of its functional life and will be completely rebuilt under the programme, which the Department of education leads.

Work on the site is due to begin early next year and is expected to be completed by Autumn 2025.
