A man who scammed York B&Q out of £70,000 has avoided jail time.

A man who scammed York B&Q out of £70,000 has avoided jail time.

York’s B&Q branch had been hit hard as Thomas Edwards, a B&Q employee at the time, plotted to make sure that trader, Barry Raftree, got away without paying for several building materials, electrical items and tools in his trolley on many occasions.

Edwards would ensure that some of Raftree’s goods would not be paid for when using the self-service checkouts.

Edwards reportedly helped others get away with similar actions, with the wider scheme running from October 2016 to September 2017.
