Following the announcement that the BBC’s American production partner ABO will not work on another series of Gentleman Jack, an online petition has so far achieved 12,500 signatures.

The first two series received great reviews from critics, the public and the LGBTQ community so much so that the BBC made a documentary on the impact of the true story of lesbian diarist Ann Lister.

York and Yorkshire has benefitted from the filming of the first two series of Gentleman Jack as Ann Lister was born in the West Riding area and was a landowner.

The petition can be found on the change.org website.
