Police appealing for witnesses after incident in York on Tuesday

​​​​​​​Following an incident on Tuesday at Mappin & Webb in Colney Street, a man in his 30’s has died in hospital.

Following an incident on Tuesday at Mappin & Webb in Colney Street, a man in his 30’s has died in hospital.

The man was from York, and it is known that three men have been arrested and are in police custody.  Police have said “The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation, and we are not in a position to provide ay further details at this time.”

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward if they were in the jeweller’s store at the time which is opposite Boots, or if they were in the vicinity of Spurriergate and Market Street around 4.30pm on Tuesday when the disturbance happened.
