Schools and leisure centres in York to benefit from £175,980 from Government's Low Carbon Skills Fund

City of York Council has secured £175,980 grant funding from the Government’s Low Carbon Skills Fund.

City of York Council has secured £175,980 grant funding from the Government’s Low Carbon Skills Fund. The funding will be used to create decarbonisation plans for 21 schools and 5 leisure centres in the City, identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption, providing both financial and carbon savings.

Work is set to begin in September, with plans being completed by the end of March 2023.

Each site will have a bespoke plan which will include changes that can be made such as fabric improvements, new heating technology and renewable energy generation.

This Government funding is in addition to £50,000 of council funding being used to produce decarbonisation plans for 7 council buildings. The production of these plans is currently underway.
