Residents in York have made a very unusual discovery, having found a sinkhole on a road.
The sinkhole was discovered on Falkland Street in Bishopshill on Friday and was immediately reported to City of York Council, who fenced off the hole. Cars can still travel through the road.
There have been a few sinkholes that have appeared since 2019. In July of that year, Walmgate was flooded after a sinkhole appeared on the road.
The most recent case prior to this was when a sinkhole opened up near Huntington Primary School in May 2022.
