Junior doctors in York are commencing a 3-day strike starting this week to protest fairer pay.

Junior doctors in York are commencing a 3-day strike starting this week to protest fairer pay.

The 72-hour strike action began yesterday on Monday the 13th of March at 7am and will last until Thursday the 16th of March at 7am.

The strike action has occurred for all members of the British Medical Association (BMA) and Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) across the country.

The planned absence protest is due to junior doctors’ salary being unjustified with the BMA describing the current situation as junior doctors could earn more money “serving coffee than saving lives”.

Patients at York Hospital have been informed of any postponements due to the action, and The York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have ensured that adequate measures are in place for urgent care.
