York Minster has opened an exhibition showcasing items from Yorkshire’s political, social and religious history.

York Minster has opened an exhibition showcasing items from Yorkshire’s political, social and religious history. The display features artefacts from the Minsters collection of over 300,000 items, many of which have survived turbulent moments.

An example of one of these items is a 14th-century book of records which is believed to have been damaged from the impact of a cannonball. Many other fascinating items will be on display including a book gifted by King James I, and a selection of books belonging to Yorkshire Woman Margaret Hoby, who is considered to be the first English Diarist. The Exhibition is set to run until February 2025.
