The York-born shot stopper initially signed for City in August 2023, until the end of the season, but will now remain at York until the summer of 2026 (with a club option of a further year) after penning a new deal.

Watson made his debut at home against Needham Market in the Emirates FA Cup on October 14th, keeping back-to-back clean sheets after featuring in the replay too.

Back-to-back clean sheets followed again after his return to the side in March 2024, this time against Aldershot and Bromley at home in what proved to be pivotal victories for Adam Hinshelwood’s side.

In total Watson featured nine times for the Minstermen throughout the 2023/24 season, keeping four clean sheets along the way.

Subject to league and FA approval.
