The Minstermen are delighted to announce the signing of Solihull Moors captain Callum Howe for an undisclosed fee.

The Yorkshire-born central defender joins the Minstermen ahead of the new season after spending the last four years with The Moors, where he has gone on to make well over 100 appearances.

The 29-year-old has become one of the best National League defenders over recent seasons, having won promotion to the Football League with Lincoln City during the 2016/17 season, before going on to feature in the 2019/20 National League Team of the Year during his first season with Solihull.

He also featured in the 2021/22 National League playoff final, as Solihull were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Grimsby Town at the London Stadium.

The centre-back came through the youth ranks at Scunthorpe United, before spending loan spells with the likes of Bradford Park Avenue, Gateshead and Alfreton Town, earning him a move to Lincoln City.

After three years at Sincil Bank, he had further loan spells with Southport and Eastleigh, before later turning out for Port Vale and Harrogate Town for a season before his move to Solihull in 2019.

Deal subject to FA and National League approval
