York City are delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Batty following his departure from League One outfit Fleetwood Town.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year-deal to further strengthen Mikey Morton’s squad for the season ahead.

Batty brings vast experience at Football League level to the LNER Community Stadium, having featured 58 times in the Championship and 81 times at League One level with both Hull City and Fleetwood Town.

Starting his career at Leeds United aged five, the Pontefract-born midfielder worked through the academy setup at Elland Road until age 15 before making the switch to Hull City’s academy.

Before making his professional debut for the Tigers, Batty was handed a spot in the squad for their Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the 2016/17 season.

His professional debut wasn’t far away however, with the gritty midfielder showcasing his ability for 90 minutes against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup the following season.

FC Halifax Town acquired the services of the then 19-year-old on a month-long loan deal in October 2017.

Batty went on to make five appearances in the National League, scoring twice for the Shaymen during his short stay.

Hull handed Batty further minutes in the FA Cup in the 2017/18 season with appearances against Nottingham Forest and Premier League outfit Chelsea on record.

A full Championship debut also followed that term with Dan playing 90 minutes in the Tigers’ one-all draw away at Brentford.

His major breakthrough season swiftly followed in 2018/19 under experienced manager Nigel Adkins, picking up 27 Championship appearances as the Tigers flirted with a play-off push.

In total, the 25-year-old represented the East Yorkshire side 79 times before a move west to League One’s Fleetwood Town.

The Fishermen picked up the midfielder on deadline day in February 2021, becoming Simon Grayson's first signing as Fleetwood Town boss.

Not long after signing, a new two-year deal was penned in April to keep him at Highbury Stadium.

Dan’s stay with The Fishermen saw him clock up 87 appearances across over two years, netting five times and assisting ten times.

Welcome to the Minstermen, Bats!
